Welcome to Year 4’s class page…

Welcome to Year 4’s page of our website. Here you will find lots of information about what we have been learning about, the exciting activities we have took part in and things coming up!

Year 4 are taught by Mr Sharock. In Year 4, our classroom is a place of happiness, learning and fun! we firmly believe in respecting one another, working hard, giving new challenges a go with a smile on our face and bringing our learning to life in creative and practical ways!

This term’s Stars!

Friday afternoons are a special time at The Willows, when the whole school gather together in the school hall to celebrate the star performer from each class that week. Mr. Sharrock tell the school what we have excelled at throughout the week and that child’s parents are even invited! Well done to all of our recent Star Award winners.

Things to know about…

Just like the rest of the school, we are set homework on a Friday and it is due in for the following Friday. As we are in Year 4, we are starting to get ready for the build up in homework as we go into Year 5 and Year 6 and then on to high school. For this reason we get either English or Maths homework that will last about half an hour; some weeks we will get both English and Maths work to do. Please support your child in completing their homework.

We are also given a set of Spellings and Times Tables to learn on a Friday – we have our test the following Friday.

Reading is incredibly important in Year 4. We are encouraged to read as often as possible – aiming to read at home at least five times a week.

Our PE sessions are timetabled for Monday afternoons and Wednesday afternoons. From September to December, Year 4 will be going swimming on Mondays, making one of their P.E. sessions.

Alongside the class teacher, Mr Sharrock, the children in Year 4 work with Mrs Barnett for 1 hour per week covering R.E., Miss Mallinson for 1 hour per week covering music, Mrs Spacey for 2 hours per week covering French and Brass For All music. Year 4 also have the valued support of Miss Stedman and Mrs Smith as teaching assistants at various times throughout the week.
