Golden Mile Summer Term Winners
In a bid to increase the opportunities for our children to engage in physical activity and try to reach the 1 hour of activity recommended for children every day, we run the Golden Mile at The Willows. This is where the children come out as a class and run around a pre-determined track to act as an extra active break time and chance to stretch between long lessons.
Over the last term in school, our classes have been battling it out in the Golden Mile running competition to try to win the termly prize. This term, a two hour session for the winning class on the mobile climbing wall, which is visiting the school on Monday 4th and Tuesday 5th July, was up for grabs. Each week, we have been announcing the standings of our updated leader-board in assembly to track which class had run the furthest. After Year 2 put up a good fight, it was very close, but the winners of this term’s Golden Mile Competition are Year 5!
Well done to all of our children for their Golden Mile running efforts – we ran over 1500 miles as a school over the last 9 weeks, an amazing achievement!
