Orienteering Inter-House Sports Competition
Over this last week we have held an inter-house sports competition for orienteering. At The Willows, we are very keen to engage all of our children in sporting competitions and so hold an inter-house sports competition across school every half term. The children compete against their peers from other classes within their house teams, allowing them to work with new people and compete against people of different ability levels. This half term, orienteering was chosen to follow on from the excellent work the Year 4,5 and 6 children did during our Orienteering Day.
Children had to work in small groups with others from their house team and find as many controls as they could within a given time. Each control was made harder, because it had a character and a number the children needed to remember and recite in order to win a point for their house team. After a designated time period, the scores for each house were added up and given to Mr. Sharrock to make an overall total of the whole school’s house scores.
The results for the orienteering inter-house competition are as follows:
In 4th Place with 172 points are our Blue house, St. Joseph.
In 3rd place with 183 points are our Red house, St. Theresa.
In 2nd place with 209 points are our Yellow house, St. Cecilia.
In first place and newly crowned orienteering champions with 230 points are our Green house, St John.
Well done to the children in St. John, but thank you and well done to all of our children for showing such good sportsmanship and having so much fun while competing and being active. We look forward to our next competition in the Summer 2 term which will be football!
