Hello and welcome to the PTFA
The Willows PTFA has been running for many years and is made up of a collection of willing volunteers among the parents and staff of the school who work together to organise events that aim to raise funds to benefit all of the children at school and provide opportunities for families to get together and have fun.
There is no expectation of anyone who wants to get involved, everyone has something to offer: whether it’s coming along to support events; helping when able to; coming along to meetings where we plan forthcoming events and think up fundraising ideas (in between lots of chatting!) as well as offering ideas or particular skills when needed.
Over recent years we have held a variety of events such as a Easter Bingo, Discos, Summer Fayre, Treasure Hunts, Family Cinema Night and we co-ordinate the presence of a special visitor to the Holy Cross Parish annual Christmas Fayre at the beginning of December!
The money we raise goes directly into school and has paid for, among other things, water bottles for all pupils, iPads, the new staging used for end of term performances as well as other things, and we have also contributed to the cost of school trips. Whilst fundraising is a significant part of what we do, the opportunities for families to meet together and socialise are just as important to us.
We are a friendly group and are always most happy to welcome everyone and look forward to hopefully seeing you at one of our events or meetings soon, dates are always on the school newsletter.
Please read on to see what events are coming up…

Parish Welcome Mass
On Sunday 29th September, the Parish of the Holy Cross held a special Mass to formally welcome all of our new families into the school and parish community.
It was a lovely occasion and lots of new families joined us. Following Mass, the PTFA hosted refreshments and a mini treasure hunt in the hall. We had lots of donations of cakes and biscuits which added to a lovely afternoon.
We also hosted a raffle – with one of Mrs. Boylan’s wonderful cakes and a bottle of wine as prizes.
Parish Christmas Fayre
On Sunday 24th November, the Parish will host their Christmas Fayre in the school hall. The PTFA always attend and have a host of stalls aimed at children and their families. We have lots of games for the children to play as well as a very special visitor.
More details will be sent out on the School App soon.
In the run up to Christmas, we host discos for all the children in the school hall. On the 20th November; Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will have their disco from 6:00pm and 7:00pm; Years 3 to 6 will have theirs from 7:15pm to 8:15pm.
Check the School App for more information.
Family Cinema Night
On Friday 6th December, we will be hosting our second Family Cinema Night. With last year being such a big success, we have decided to have another.
This is an excellent night for families to spend some quality time together. We turn four classrooms into mini cinema and the hall becomes a refreshment stand. There will be popcorn, sweets, crisps and drinks available to purchase.
In the week before, the children in each class will be given a choice of films and they will vote for what they would like to watch. The films with the most votes will be shown in the mini cinemas.
More details will be sent out via the School App near the time.
Towards the end of the Autumn term, the school host their Christmas Nativity performances. Reception will have one performance and Year 1 & 2 will have three performances. At each performance, members of the PTFA will be on hand to sell raffle tickets with a whole host of prizes available.
