Sports Day 2022
On Wednesday 22nd July, we held our annual Sports Day. We were delighted to welcome back families and spectators for this year’s sporting celebrations, and it was great to see such a great turn out throughout the day to cheer on the children.
The morning saw the KS1 children complete a carousel of challenging activities such as sack race, javelin, sprinting and the obstacle race. The children showed excellent levels of effort and positivity as they cheered their team on and worked hard to win points for their house team. The Year 6 children supported the KS1 children throughout, giving demonstrations, offering encouragement and counting up scores.
The afternoon saw the KS2 children take to the fields, working their way as a class around the ten activities designed to test different aspects of their speed, balance and strength. There were athletic events such as sprinting and javelin throw, as well as more traditional events like the sack race and the egg and spoon race. The sun continued to shine throughout the afternoon and the KS2 children again impressed with their sportsmanship and effort in all activities.
Following the KS2 Sports Day challenges, the whole school gathered on the field with the spectators to enjoy a well earned ice-pop and await the final scores. After a long, tense pause, Mr Wylde announced the results which were as follows:
In 4th place with 969 points were St Joseph.
In 3rd Place with 1029 points were St John.
In 2nd Place with 1036 points were St Theresa.
In 1st Place with 1042 points were St Cecilia.
A huge round of applause was given to each house, but as Victoria (the St Cecilia House Captain) lifted the winner’s trophy, the crowd erupted. Well done to all participants – the efforts, positivity and sportsmanship you showed made it a day to remember!
