During their first week in Year 4, the children were tasked with counting beats and becoming creative songwriters. We wrote a class song together as a shared write, changing the words of Queen’s ‘We Will Rock You’ and linking it to what we are looking forward to and expect in Year 4. I was amazed at how good the children were at making sentences fit to different syllable / beat counts! The children even performed this song together, singing it and adding in glockenspiels and tambourine sections within their music lesson. The children then all managed to go off and write a verse and chorus of their own fitting the same beat structure, which were incredible! Well done Year 4.
