Mrs. Roddy teaches Year 1 with the support from Mrs Sevens, Mrs Hayes and Miss Stedman. Mrs. Hayes teaches us Science on Tuesday afternoon and PE on Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Roddy uses this time as she is the school’s SENCO. Miss Mallinson takes us for our music lesson on Friday afternoon.

This term’s Stars!
Now that we are allowed to have assemblies together again, we have restarted our Star Award Assembly on Friday morning. This is a very special assembly where Mrs. Roddy tells us how amazing one of our friends has been this week – our parents are even allowed to come! Well done to all of our recent Star Award winners.
Things to know about…
Year 1 is a very busy year as we start working on the National Curriculum. There is so much to learn but we always have lots and lots of fun.
Homework – For our homework we read every night. On a Friday we also get Maths or English homework and spellings. All of our homework will now be set on Seesaw.
PE – one of our PE sessions takes place on a Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. Hayes. The other session is built into the week with Mrs Roddy.

Chinese New Year
The children in Year One enjoyed a Chinese New Year workshop led by Paula. They enjoyed learning fun facts about China, performed some tai chi moves, made noodles and explored writing the Chinese alphabet plus much more as you can see!
Craft Club – Reception and Year 1
This week in Craft Club, we looked at painting carefully, using cotton buds. We chose our favourite colours to make up our rainbows. Next week we will be adding cotton wool to make our clouds. Then, we will be adding ribbon to make our door hangers. The children are...
Father Christmas Visit
Father Christmas came to visit Year 1 today. We had a magical time!
The Great Fire of London
Year One have been learning about The Great Fire of London. The children have made their own salt dough bread which they sell in the Pudding Lane Bakery role play area. As part of their Design Technology topic, they made houses to create a London street scene from 1666.
Outdoor Learning Day
Year One love our Forest School area. They painted pictures using natural materials, made magic potions and created their own special bird feeders.
Year One Baptism Topic
Year One have been learning about the Sacrament of Baptism. They made a freeze frame showing the important signs and symbols. They decided who would be the priest, parents and godparents.
Glow Dodgeball
Year One enjoyed dressing in their own clothes for a game of glow dodgeball. Their face paints really showed up under the UV lights.
Year One Outdoor Dance
Year One had a wonderful time during their outdoor dance session. They learnt lots of dance moves and enjoyed exploring how to be animals!
Year 1 – Visit to Church
Year One joined the Parish for Mass this week. It was the first time without their buddies and they listened really well to Father Andrew. They learnt about how important it is to be a friend of Jesus and make the right choices.
Year 1 – Vets Role Play
Year One have really enjoyed using the Vets role play area. They have been busy making all the toy animals feel much better!
Year 1 – The Antarctic
We have been learning all about The Antarctic in our Geography work. We have been busy looking at maps and plans. Antarctica is located at the South Pole and we have explored the weather and learnt about the different types of animals that live there.
Year 1 – Making Clay Penguins
Year 1 have been working hard this term learning all about penguins. In art, we have been mastering the skills associated with clay. Take a look at the pictures below to see how well we all did at creating our very own 3D clay penguin.
