Year 3 – Jesse Tree

During Advent Year 3 created their own Jesse Tree in the classroom to help them to prepare for the birth of Jesus.

The Jesse Tree is a lovely tradition where, each day of Advent, a new ornament is added to a tree to symbolise a different story or person from the Bible leading up to the birth of Jesus.

It is linked to Isaiah 11:1: The royal line of David is like a tree that has been cut down; but just as new branches sprout from a stump, so a new king will arise from among David’s descendants. (Good News Version)

The Jesse Tree is a great way to show children people and events in the wider story of the Bible, from creation to Christmas, and to emphasise the fact that Jesus is part of the line of Jesse and David. He is firmly rooted in a story that spans back through the ages.
