Year 4 French Day!
On Thursday 12th October, Year 4 held a French day to culminate their learning from their ‘Paris’ geography topic and their learning from French MFL lessons this half term.
The children spent the entire day dressed in French colours and completed lots of French themed challenges throughout the day. The children’s first task was a group D.T. challenge, where they had to design and build an Eiffel Tower structure using only marshmellows and raw spaghetti. Following this, we cleared the classroom and played a boules championship. For the rest of the morning, the children held a French fashion show! They changed into their fancy catwalk outfits and strutted their stuff down the catwalk and even spoke several sentences of French to the audience. In the afternoon, the children made an origami model of Paris with characters, shops and major attractions, before enjoying a three course feast of French food! For starters there were snails, pate, various cheeses and quiche. For main meals there was French onion soup, beef bourbignon and chicken provencal. The most popular course was obviously the dessert, where the children sampled French pastries like crepes, croissants and pain au chocolates.
As you can see from the many pictures, the children had a fantastic day broadening their understanding of another country’s culture!
