Year 6 Fleetwood Visit

On Friday 13th May, Year 6 went on an educational visit for the day to Fleetwood and Fleetwood Museum. After a long week of completing their SATs, the Year 6’s were ready for an adventure and what better way to get to Fleetwood than a tram ride down the full stretch of Blackpool’s promenade! After a journey on the train and then tram, we arrived at Fleetwood and enjoyed some time on the beach building sandcastles and playing games. A picnic lunch on the beach was followed by an ice-cream from the Ferry Cafe, before our short walk down to the Fleetwood Museum.

As we have been learning about The Victorians and Victorian seaside holidays in class, the museum tour and activities provided and excellent way to bring the topic to life. Tour guides in very elaborate Victorian costumes led activities for the children, gave them a guided tour of a themed seaside guest house, provided resources for some beautiful clay pictures which Victorian children did while on holiday and even gave them a chance to dress up for an old fashioned photo! The highlight of the day however, was undoubtedly the hilarious Punch and Judy show which we watched in a big top set up outside the museum.

Year 6 had a wonderful visit and were impeccably behaved throughout. A thoroughly deserved reward for working so hard this year and we are so glad the subject content of the Victorian’s was taught in such a fun, engaging way!
